Family Impact
Within the year after they were diagnosed, I had a son who was not affected by GSD. Because of the care that my two youngest girls needed along with being a single mother,I made the hardest decision I've made as a parent. I gave him up for adoption. There was no way I could take care of a new born and while trying to take care of Kayla and Liberty’s medical needs and raise my oldest daughter who was already feeling the loss of time and attention. I decided on an open adoption so that my children could still be in touch and so my son could know I had not abandoned him and that I loved him and wanted him to have a better life.

My oldest daughter Angela has unfortunately lost a lot of time with me and we have grown apart more and more each year. I feel that she resents the fact that her sisters need so much attention and there is a lot of tension between the girls. She just turned 18 and moved out which is really sad for all of us.
